Edge Olicious is William Edge with the restraints loosened.

Jazz, funk, blues, electronic music and groove come together in a collection that is playful, rhythmic and deliberately difficult to categorize. Tracks including “Overgroove to the Top,” “Blackjack with Brotha Jax,” “Desert Rain,” “Heatwave Chill” and “Dance with Me” move from laid-back cool to unapologetic funk.

There is humor here, but also musicianship and a strong sense of musical personality. Rather than staying politely inside a genre, Edge Olicious treats jazz as a starting point—a place from which the music can wander wherever the groove takes it.
